OKLAHOMA CITY – Delaware Resource Group of Oklahoma, LLC (DRG) has been awarded the Journal Record’s 2017 Beacon Award for Philanthropic Impact
Along with DRG, the 2017 overall Beacon Award winners also included Paycom, Two Men and a Truck, Freestyle Creative, Delta Dental of Oklahoma, ChappelWood Financial Services, Car Care Clinic and National Charity League Inc. Tulsa Midtown chapter.
The honorees were recognized at the 10th-annual Beacon Awards event Thursday at Embassy Suites Oklahoma City Downtown/Medical Center. The overall winners in each category receive a donation for the nonprofits they support.
DRG and the honorees also received individual Governor’s Commendations from Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin. DRG was recognized for its community engagement and contributions to El Sistema Oklahoma, an after school music program for Oklahoma City Public Schools. Phil and Cathy Busey founded the program several years ago through a creative partnership with the Wanda Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. El Sistema Oklahoma is a non-profit 501©3. The mission of the program is to serve the community by engaging children within an ensemble-based music program so they can share the joy of music making and grow as responsible citizens.
The program has become one the must successful after school program within the heart of Oklahoma City. The Busey’s continue to support the program financially, corporate employees will volunteer or assist with various El Sistema-related programs.
