Tahlequah, Oklahoma – Each year, during the Cherokee National Holiday, Cherokee Nation awards the Community Leadership Individual Award in recognition of Cherokee Nation citizens who tirelessly have given, without hesitation, their time to make their communities more vibrant, livable places. Their example of servant leadership embodies Cherokee values and is held in high esteem by their peers for strengthening the bonds of Cherokee Nation citizens.
This year, four Cherokee Nation citizens received the 2020 Community Leadership Individual Award, including Phil Busey, of Oklahoma City.
Phil G. Busey Sr. is the founder, chairman and CEO of Delaware Resource Group of Oklahoma, LLC. Since 2002, DRG has experienced growth of more than 4,000%, earned Boeing’s Supplier of the Year Award and diversified into several commercial efforts. Busey and his wife, Cathy, together founded DRG and El Sistema Oklahoma, a nonprofit after-school music program that reaches 240 underserved students.
